Developing a gene delivery system with high efficiency and low toxicity is a major challenge in the field of non-viral gene therapy. It has been shown that various types of cationic glycopolymers have the ability to form aggregated complexes (called polyplexes) with DNA, for gene delivery. This research characterizes glycopolymers and the aggregates, to elucidate the morphology of the glycopolymer-DNA complexes in physiological conditions, and also the cellular uptake and release of DNA within the cell for therapeutic effects.
